It is the seva South Indian temples offer most often. At Koothanur the names are those of Devi Saraswati, the goddess of learning, and the prayer is for study and knowledge. The sankalp names the student, with gotra and nakshatra, or birth star, so the archana is made on their behalf.

Why devotees book it

A prayer for a child's studies at the start of a school or college year

Blessings before an exam, an interview or a new course, offered in faith

A prayer for growth in a career built on learning, from teaching to research

Thanksgiving to the Devi after results are known, or a course is completed

When to book

Navaratri and Vijayadashami are the traditional times for this archana, when students and families pray especially for learning.
