It tells of Hanuman's leap to Lanka, his search for Sita and the hope he brings. Its parayanam, a devotional reading of the full text, is much loved in South Indian homes. Families traditionally offer it for courage and for the removal of obstacles. Your reading is done by a South Indian pandit of your family's tradition. He speaks your name and gotra in the sankalp, the formal dedication of the reading.

Why devotees book it

A prayer for the removal of obstacles that hold back a job, a marriage or a new home

A prayer for courage in a difficult time, drawing on Hanuman's faith and devotion

Devotion to Hanuman and Shri Ram, kept as a regular Saturday or Tuesday practice

Fulfilling a family vow to have the Sundara Kandam read for someone you love

A prayer for the protection of the family, offered in faith to Hanuman

When to book

Saturdays and Tuesdays are the traditional days for a Sundara Kandam reading.
