When Is Noorum Palum Offered? Ayilyam and Mannarasala Seasonal Rules
வெளியிடப்பட்டது · புதுப்பிக்கப்பட்டது
Noorum Palum at Mannarasala follows the temple's calendar, including a restricted period from Edavam 15 until Kanni Ayilyam. During that interval, the temple identifies an exception for the offering within Amma's monthly Ayilyam worship. A general statement that a seva can be requested on a family occasion should not override this local rule.
Ayilyam is also written Aayilyam; it corresponds to the Ashlesha star name used in other Indian languages. When arranging a service, use the temple's applicable calendar rather than assuming an old civil date will recur every year.
Why does the seasonal rule matter?
The temple's festival account describes a ritual pause for several naga observances and identifies the monthly Ayilyam exception. Its offering page describes the wider regular season from Kanni Ayilyam to Edavam 15. These are religious scheduling rules, not a claim about the habits of every living snake. Mannarasala's festival calendar and offering guide provide the relevant information.
For a family, the practical conclusion is straightforward: request the exact date and ask whether the named offering can be accepted. A booking form, a preferred Monday or an auspicious occasion does not itself establish availability.
Which Ayilyam observances are significant?
The temple marks major Ayilyam observances in Kanni, Thulam and Kumbham. Its tradition associates Kanni with Nagaraja's birth anniversary and Kumbham with Anantha; Thulam is widely known as Mannarasala Ayilyam. These are related celebrations, not one interchangeable annual date.
The observances have their own arrangements. A normal Noorum Palum sponsorship should not be represented as participation in every procession or ceremony of a festival programme. If attending a particular celebration is your intention, ask about the actual public arrangements and the service you can book.
How to choose a date for the family
- State the preferred occasion: thanksgiving, a vow, a birthday or another family observance.
- Clarify whether the family follows a civil date or birth-star date.
- Check whether that day falls within the temple's regular or restricted observance period.
- Ask whether attendance is required for the chosen arrangement.
- Wait for acceptance before making plans dependent on the seva.
If the date is unavailable, request a suitable alternative. A calendar restriction is part of the tradition; it should not be interpreted as a bad omen for a family or a reason to purchase another ritual urgently.
What about Nag Panchami or Mondays?
Divine Hindu's listing mentions these among occasions devotees may consider. They remain requests subject to Mannarasala's own rules. A generic naga-worship day used elsewhere does not make every Mannarasala service available on that date.
This is a useful principle for all temple bookings: the name of the festival explains why a devotee is interested, while the receiving institution determines how its worship is conducted. Respect both rather than replacing the local calendar with a general internet list.
Traditional intentions and benefits
Families may seek Nagaraja's blessings for welfare, protection and peace, or offer thanks for what they have received. Some approach the rite within an astrological tradition. These are devotional reasons; the article cannot diagnose sarpa dosha or establish that an offering will change a particular event.
A calm approach is appropriate. Explain a recommendation from a trusted priest accurately, ask which rite is meant, and choose a service you understand. Avoid interpreting every delay or difficulty as proof of an unseen fault requiring repeated expenditure.
Thanksgiving is equally valid. A family may simply wish to maintain its connection to Mannarasala. The meaning and tradition guide explains why the offering is more specific than a generic promise of good fortune.
What to confirm for the listed service
The Divine Hindu Noorum Palum listing permits up to four names subject to confirmation, with gotra and birth star when supplied. The date and eligibility for an offering in your absence are confirmed before processing. A temple receipt or WhatsApp confirmation follows.
Private video and couriered prasad are not promised. Uruli Kamazhthal is a separate in-person vow and is excluded. For a clear family record, use the preparation checklist before sending details.
Common questions
Is the restricted period the same civil date every year?
No. It is expressed through the Malayalam calendar and Ayilyam observance. Check the current temple calendar rather than converting it once and reusing that date indefinitely.
Does a festival booking include a meeting with Amma?
The Divine Hindu package does not promise a private meeting. Follow the temple's current darshan and festival arrangements.
Can the offering be made only for a problem?
No. Devotion, family custom and gratitude are also meaningful reasons. A sincere intention does not need a frightening diagnosis.
