Thaipusam Pujas

Thaipusam 2027 falls on Friday 22 January, when the Pusam (Pushya) star falls in the Tamil month of Thai, close to the full moon. It is one of the great festivals of Murugan. Tradition holds that on this day Parvati gave Murugan the Vel, his spear, and very large numbers of pilgrims walk to Palani, many carrying kavadi in fulfilment of vows.

Book an abhishekam, archana or Kattalai Puja in your name at Palani, Tiruchendur, Swamimalai and the other abodes of Murugan, or at the Subramanya temples of Ghati and Mopidevi.

Read our guide to the six abodes of Murugan and what Thai Pusam and the kavadi mean.

Each puja page shows what is included, who performs it and when your video or proof reaches you. Your name and gotra are taken in the sankalp.
