What is an Ayushya Homam?
Ayush Homam, also called Ayushya Homam, is a fire ritual for long life. It is offered to Ayur Devata, the deity of life span, often together with prayers to Mrityunjaya and the Navagraha. In South India it is traditionally performed on a birthday by birth star, for a child or for an adult. In this booking, the fire is lit and tended for you by a South Indian pandit of your family's tradition. The sankalp names the person whose birthday it is, with the gotra.
