The Chandi Path is the reading of the Durga Saptashati, a text of 700 verses in praise of the Divine Mother. In Hindu tradition, devotees read it during Navratri and at other times when they wish to honour Durga.

If you cannot sit for the path yourself, you can book a Chandi Path puja online. Pick a puja below, open its page and read what that booking covers before you decide.

The Chandi Path and the Durga Saptashati

The Durga Saptashati, also called the Devi Mahatmya, is part of the Markandeya Purana. It has 700 verses arranged in thirteen chapters.

It tells how the Goddess, as Chandi or Durga, overcame demons such as Madhu, Kaitabha, Mahishasura and Shumbha-Nishumbha. Devotees recite it to honour her.

Many families read it during Navratri. You can also explore Durga Saptashati path pujas and path and recitation pujas.

Navchandi, Ek Chandi and other names

The listed pujas use different names. In common usage, Ek means one and Nav means nine. So an Ek Chandi Path refers to one recitation, and a Navchandi Path to nine.

Two pujas pair the path with a fire ritual, a havan or a yagya. One puja is a Baglamukhi Chandi Path at Jajpur. Baglamukhi is one of the ten Mahavidyas, the great wisdom goddesses.

Each puja page states exactly what that booking covers, so read it before you choose.
