Rudrabhishekam — Bhimeswara Temple, Draksharamam
What This Remedy Does
Rudrabhishekam at Bhimeswara Temple, Draksharamam, is the bathing of Shiva as Bhimeswara to the chant of the Sri Rudram. Priests of the temple perform it for you, naming up to four people and the family gotra in the sankalp. Once it is complete, the temple receipt or a confirmation reaches you on WhatsApp.
What is Rudrabhishekam?
Rudrabhishekam combines two acts of worship: the abhishekam, a sacred bath for the Shiva linga, and the chanting of the Sri Rudram. The Sri Rudram, made up of the Namakam and Chamakam, comes from the Krishna Yajurveda. As it is recited, the priests pour water, milk, curd, honey, ghee and other materials over the linga, one after another. Bilva leaves, an archana of Shiva's names and aarti complete the worship. At Draksharamam the seva is offered to Shiva as Bhimeswara, with your name and gotra in the sankalp.
Why devotees book it
- A prayer for good health and long life for parents, children and elders in the family
- Peace of mind and harmony between family members at home
- A traditional remedy during a difficult graha period, offered calmly and in faith
- Thanksgiving to Shiva after a prayer is answered or a hard season has passed
When to book
Through the year, devotees choose a Monday or Pradosham for this seva, while Maha Shivaratri and the Karthika month are special occasions. A birthday by birth star is another meaningful date. After booking, a WhatsApp message from our team confirms the date.
About Bhimeswara Temple
Bhimeswara Temple stands at Draksharamam in the Godavari delta of Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the five Pancharama temples of Shiva. Devi Manikyamba is also worshipped here, and devotees revere her shrine as a Shakti Peetha, a sacred seat of the Goddess. For many devotees, a Rudrabhishekam at a temple where Shiva and Shakti are both honoured is a meaningful way to pray for the family.
