Panchamirtha Abhishekam — Subramanyaswamy Temple, Tiruttani
What This Remedy Does
Panchamirtha Abhishekam bathes Murugan with panchamirtham, a sacred mixture of five sweet things, at Subramanyaswamy Temple, his hilltop abode at Tiruttani. Tiruttani's priests perform it in your name, with a sankalp for up to four people and your gotra. Once the abhishekam is offered, our team passes on the temple's receipt, or confirms the seva, on WhatsApp.
What is Panchamirtha Abhishekam?
Panchamirtha means five nectars. In this abhishekam the deity is bathed with panchamirtham, a sacred mixture of five sweet things. Fruit, jaggery, honey, ghee and milk products are typical ingredients, and water and milk are offered as well. It is a well-loved offering in Murugan and Ganesha temples. At Tiruttani the panchamirtham is offered to Murugan, who by tradition came to rest here after his battle. The priest first dedicates it to you in the sankalp, naming you and your gotra.
Why devotees book it
- Gratitude to Murugan when a wish has come true
- A prayer for health and harmony at home
- A prayer for marriage, at the temple where by tradition Murugan married Valli
- A birthday or wedding anniversary offering, or devotion on Murugan's festival
When to book
Tuesdays and Shashti, the sixth lunar day, are the traditional days for Murugan, and your birth star is another. Thirukalyanam, the divine wedding festival of Murugan, is celebrated at Tiruttani; ask our team about dates around it. Your own date is then fixed with you over WhatsApp.
