About Varalakshmi Vratam
Varalakshmi Vratam is a vrat for Goddess Lakshmi, kept mainly in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Varalakshmi means Lakshmi who grants boons (vara). Traditionally, married women observe it on a Friday in Shravan, praying for the well-being of their family.
Puja vidhi differs between families and regions. Many homes set up a decorated kalash for the goddess, light a lamp and tie a sacred thread. Follow your family elders or priest for the steps your home follows.
Lakshmi pieces for Varalakshmi Vratam puja
For the Lakshmi puja, this edit includes the Goddess Lakshmi Brass Idol and the Lakshmi Ji Karungali Idol on Lotus Base. In Hindu tradition, Lakshmi is often shown seated or standing on a lotus.
The Brass Akhand Jyot Oil Diya is listed with borosilicate glass. An akhand jyot is a lamp kept burning through a puja or vrat. Check each listing for size, material and care.
Shiva and Rudraksha pieces for Shravan
For Sawan, the edit includes a 108 Beads Rudraksha Jaap Mala, a Narmadeshwar Shivling and the Nandi Ji Stone Idol. Nandi, the bull, is the vahana of Lord Shiva and often faces the Shivling in temples and homes.
Many devotees chant Om Namah Shivaya on a Rudraksha mala through Shravan, especially on Mondays. Before abhishek, check the material and care details of each piece.
Puja samagri and this edit
This edit is a small selection of pieces for the home shrine. It is not a complete Varalakshmi Vratam puja samagri kit. Items such as flowers, kumkum, turmeric, rice, fruits and the sacred thread are usually gathered by the family.
Choose the pieces that suit your home and your own family tradition. For other festivals, see edits for Maha Shivaratri, Krishna Janmashtami and Ganesh Chaturthi.
