Rule of thumb: perform the shraddha on the tithi on which the person passed away. If the tithi is not known, choose Sarva Pitru Amavasya, Saturday 10 October. About this puja
Ganga Tarpan is the offering of water, black til and kusha grass to the ancestors at the Ganga — the simplest shraddha rite of Pitru Paksha. Divine Hindu's Varanasi pandit performs it at Dashashwamedh or Assi ghat on the tithi you choose between 26 September and 10 October 2026, in your name and gotra, for ₹801.

Rule of thumb: perform the shraddha on the tithi (lunar day) on which the person passed away. If the tithi is not known, choose Sarva Pitru Amavasya, Saturday 10 October 2026. The pandits fix the exact muhurat on the day; on 26 September the lunar eclipse moves tarpan to after moksha-kaal.
How to book
- Choose the package and the location where you want it performed.
- Pick the shraddha date. Any date from 26 September to 10 October is open.
- Enter the sankalp details: number of persons (1 to 4), each ancestor's name and relation, your own name as karta, and your gotra (write Kashyap if unknown).
- Add daan (Brahmin bhojan, gau seva, anna daan, vastra daan, deep daan) if you wish, and pay.

Questions about this puja
What is tarpan and how is it different from pind daan?
Tarpan is the offering of water mixed with black til and kusha to the ancestors, made with mantras; it is the daily rite of Pitru Paksha. Pind daan adds the offering of rice-flour pinds and is the fuller shraddha. Tarpan can be offered every day of the fortnight; pind daan is usually offered on the ancestor's tithi or on Amavasya.
How much does Ganga tarpan at Kashi cost?
₹801 for one date, including the pandit's dakshina, til, kusha, flowers and a diya. To have tarpan offered on several days, add one booking per date.
Which ghat is the tarpan performed at?
Dashashwamedh ghat or Assi ghat in Varanasi, at the morning muhurat, depending on the pandit assigned to your date.
I don't know my ancestor's tithi. Which date should I choose?
Yes. If the tithi (lunar day) of the death is not known, choose Sarva Pitru Amavasya, Saturday 10 October 2026 — the day on which shraddha is offered to all ancestors, known and unknown. Tick “tithi not known” in the booking form and the date is set for you.
How will I know the tarpan was offered in my name?
Your name, gotra and each ancestor's name are spoken aloud in the sankalp, and the puja is recorded. The video reaches you on WhatsApp within 3–4 days; prasad and holy water follow by courier in 8–10 days.
Do I have to be present in Varanasi?
No. The puja is performed on your behalf by our pandits on the date you choose. You do not need to travel; you receive the recorded video and prasad at home.

Gaya is for moksha pind daan, the once-in-a-lifetime ritual at Vishnupad, Falgu and Akshayavat. Kashi is for tarpan, tithi shraddha, Tripindi Shraddha at Pishach Mochan Kund and asthi visarjan. Where a puja is offered at both, the price differs by location.
Bookings close the evening before the date. Same-day requests are taken on WhatsApp only, subject to the pandits’ availability.
