Rule of thumb: perform the shraddha on the tithi on which the person passed away. If the tithi is not known, choose Sarva Pitru Amavasya, Saturday 10 October. Gaya Pind Daan is the pind daan offered at the three vedis of Gaya — the Vishnupad temple, the Falgu river bank and the Akshayavat banyan — for the moksha of ancestors. Anyone who wishes to perform the once-in-a-lifetime Gaya shraddha for parents, grandparents or the whole lineage; families who could not travel to Gaya; those whose ancestors have not received shraddha for years.

Which day should this be done?
Gaya pind daan can be offered on any day of Pitru Paksha. Choose the tithi of your ancestor's passing if you know it; if you don't, or you are offering for the whole lineage, choose Sarva Pitru Amavasya on Saturday 10 October. Maha Bharani Shraddha (Tuesday 29 September) is preferred when the person passed away within the last year.

Rule of thumb: perform the shraddha on the tithi (lunar day) on which the person passed away. If the tithi is not known, choose Sarva Pitru Amavasya, Saturday 10 October 2026. The pandits fix the exact muhurat on the day; on 26 September the lunar eclipse moves tarpan to after moksha-kaal.
How to book
- Choose the package and the location where you want it performed.
- Pick the shraddha date. Any date from 26 September to 10 October is open.
- Enter the sankalp details: number of persons (1 to 4), each ancestor's name and relation, your own name as karta, and your gotra (write Kashyap if unknown).
- Add daan (Brahmin bhojan, gau seva, anna daan, vastra daan, deep daan) if you wish, and pay.

How much does Gaya pind daan cost online?
₹5,100 for pind daan at Vishnupad alone (Ek Vedi), ₹11,000 for all three vedis — Vishnupad, Falgu and Akshayavat (Teen Vedi), and ₹21,000 for Teen Vedi with Brahmin bhojan and gau daan. Prices include the pandit's dakshina and samagri; daan add-ons are optional.
Why is Gaya considered the most important place for pind daan?
The Garuda Purana and Vayu Purana describe Gaya as the tirtha where Lord Vishnu's footprint (Vishnupad) rests, and hold that shraddha offered here frees the ancestors from the cycle of rebirth. That is why a Gaya shraddha is traditionally performed once in a lifetime for the whole lineage.
I don't know the tithi my ancestor died on. Can I still book?
Yes. If the tithi (lunar day) of the death is not known, choose Sarva Pitru Amavasya, Saturday 10 October 2026 — the day on which shraddha is offered to all ancestors, known and unknown. Tick “tithi not known” in the booking form and the date is set for you.
Can a daughter or granddaughter book Gaya pind daan?
Yes. Any family member can be the karta (the person offering the puja) — sons, daughters, spouses or grandchildren. The pandits take the sankalp in the karta's name and gotra; write “Kashyap” if the gotra is not known.
How will I know the pind daan was actually performed?
Your name, gotra and each ancestor's name are spoken aloud in the sankalp, and the puja is recorded. The video reaches you on WhatsApp within 3–4 days; prasad and holy water follow by courier in 8–10 days.
Do I need to travel to Gaya?
No. The puja is performed on your behalf by our pandits on the date you choose. You do not need to travel; you receive the recorded video and prasad at home.
