Vishu and the Vishukkani
Vishu is the Malayalam New Year, mainly marked in Kerala. Many families set up a Vishukkani, an arrangement of auspicious items with a lamp and an image of Krishna. It is traditionally the first sight of the new year, seen on waking.
Elders often give small gifts to children, and the day usually includes a festive meal. Customs differ between families, so follow your own.
Krishna pieces for Vishu puja
For Vishu, this edit lists two Krishna forms. One is the Lord Radha Krishna Brass Idol. The other is the Divine Radha Krishna Pocket Temple, which is gold and silver plated.
The Brass Akhand Jyot Oil Diya is listed with borosilicate glass. An akhand jyot is a lamp kept burning through a puja. Check each product page for the stated size, material and care.
Puthandu and the Tamil New Year
Puthandu is the Tamil New Year. Many families clean the home, draw a kolam at the entrance and visit a temple. Lord Ganesha is traditionally worshipped first at the start of any new undertaking.
This edit lists the Divine Ganesha Pocket Temple, gold and silver plated. It also lists the Antique Gold Brass Pooja Engraved Thali (Set of 6). Check the product page for the pieces in the thali set.
Choosing pieces for the new year
Vishu and Puthandu are separate observances, so choose pieces for the one your family keeps. Both can use a lamp, a thali and a shrine piece.
For a pocket temple, check the stated size. For the thali set, read the item list. For the diya, check the size and material on its product page.
