Rule of thumb: perform the shraddha on the tithi on which the person passed away. If the tithi is not known, choose Sarva Pitru Amavasya, Saturday 10 October. Rule of thumb: perform the shraddha on the tithi (lunar day) on which the person passed away. If the tithi is not known, choose Sarva Pitru Amavasya, Saturday 10 October 2026. The pandits fix the exact muhurat on the day; on 26 September the lunar eclipse moves tarpan to after moksha-kaal.

- Add daan (Brahmin bhojan, gau seva, anna daan, vastra daan, deep daan) if you wish, and pay.

What is Tripindi Shraddha?
“Tri-pindi” means three pinds: one shraddha offered together to three generations of ancestors — father, grandfather and great-grandfather — on the paternal and maternal side. It is prescribed when shraddha has not been offered for three years or more, or when a death was untimely, violent or unknown, and the soul is believed to be unsettled.
Why Pishach Mochan Kund?
Pishach Mochan Kund in Varanasi is the tirtha the shastras name for freeing restless souls (pishach yoni). Tripindi and Narayan Bali have been performed there for centuries, especially during Pitru Paksha.
How much does Tripindi Shraddha cost?

Who should perform Tripindi — is it only for Pitra Dosh?
Not only. It is advised when the family's shraddha lapsed for three or more years, when there have been accidental or untimely deaths, when the tithi of a death is unknown, or when an astrologer finds Pitra Dosh with persistent obstacles.
Which date should I choose for Tripindi?
Any day of Pitru Paksha works. Ghata Chaturdashi (Friday 9 October) is traditional for untimely deaths; Sarva Pitru Amavasya (Saturday 10 October) for unknown tithis or the whole lineage.
How will I know it was performed?
Your name, gotra and each ancestor's name are spoken aloud in the sankalp, and the puja is recorded. The video reaches you on WhatsApp within 3–4 days; prasad and holy water follow by courier in 8–10 days.

Gaya is for moksha pind daan, the once-in-a-lifetime ritual at Vishnupad, Falgu and Akshayavat. Kashi is for tarpan, tithi shraddha, Tripindi Shraddha at Pishach Mochan Kund and asthi visarjan. Where a puja is offered at both, the price differs by location.
