The Mercury Shivling, also known as the Parad Lingam, is a sacred form of Shiva in Hindu tradition. It is made of purified mercury, solidified through traditional alchemical processes into a smooth silver lingam on a yoni base. Many families keep one in the home for daily worship.

Meaning and tradition
In tradition, Parad is considered self-energized, so unlike stone or clay lingams it needs no separate pran-pratishtha. Devotees perform abhishek on it as part of daily worship. It is also used for quiet prayer and meditation.
How to use and care
Parad is traditionally kept on a copper or silver plate, with the yoni spout turned north. Handle it with clean, dry hands rather than leaving it out in the open.
Water, milk or bilva leaves are offered during abhishek, and the lingam is wiped dry afterwards. Salt, acidic liquids and abrasive cleaning are never used on Parad.
