About Kapaleeswarar Temple
Kapaleeswarar Temple is in Mylapore, among the oldest parts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Shiva is worshipped here as Kapaleeswarar and the Devi as Karpagambal. Tradition holds that Parvati worshipped Shiva here in the form of a peahen, or mayil, and that this gave Mylapore its name.
